Hatfield Peverel resident for 33 years, David has represented the Hatfield Peverel ward on BDC for 12 years, and latterly the Hatfield Peverel and Terling ward for 4 years, serving in various Cabinet roles, latterly as Cabinet Member for Finance and Performance. David's professional and voluntary background includes agriculture, engineering, business, higher education, international consultancy, and school governorship. He was awarded the MBE in 2011 for voluntary services to Essex education.
At local level David's BDC interventions have included for example sourcing funds for community aspects such as SIDS, CCTV, play equipment, leadership of the Liaison Group & spearheading resolution of the former ARLA odour issue, plus on-going representations on traffic and development matters. He has also awarded grants under the local councillor community grants scheme to local organisations, including the Scouts, allotment association, and Terling cricket club. He regularly attends and updates the three parish councils on BDC affairs.
At corporate level, and his responsibilities including the budget, treasury management and investment management, David is passionate to ensure low taxation and excellent value for money for council tax payers, with continued delivery of high quality services.
